Hilton Head Island as many wedding venues and while all are nice very few stand with a beautiful setting with what they offer any clients that are looking for a Lowcountry wedding. Sonesta Resort in Hilton Head Island South Carolina is one of these venues. Featuring a spectacular pool, and very well maintained landscaped grounds, including pond and lagoon, and a one of a kind white bridge overlooking the pavilion, that leads you to the dunes and miles and miles of our South Carolina white sand beaches.
Being so fortunate to be a preferred vendor for Sonesta Resort, I received a phone call from Stacie lovely mom, who at the time was collecting information from all wedding photographers. Our phone conference was very productive and I remember her telling me that out of the 13 wedding photographers she was interviewing that my photography was unique, very different and more of an art form, that my website really reflected wedding photography in a very storytelling way with a great style for documenting wedding images like no other wedding photographer. The very next day we yes, the cinematic videographer Kevin and I were on board to capture Stacie & Shawn special day.
The day came and full of blue sky and beautiful clouds. Shawn shined with a suit by Jos.A.Bank while the groomsmen matched in style. Stacie was glowing with radiance and beauty wearing a beautiful, special and gorgeous wedding dress by Martina Liana Her shoes choice was just has amazing by having two different pairs, flat sandals by Badgley Mischka, Heels by Betsy Johnson the bridesmaids dresses with a Blush and Vintage Rose color designed by Sorella Vita was the perfect color palette. The bride’s bouquet and bridesmaids bouquet were designed by no other than the very talented Flowers by Sue.
The ceremony was held at the pavilion. It was truly breathtaking with a large chandelier in the middle and white drapping curtains. In the aisle rows stood these 11 wooden signs, each with one line from the verse Love is patient, Love is kind ( 1 Corinthians 13:4-8) A perfect touch to the decoration. Once the ceremony chairs were moved, The reception started with the bridal party doing a very different and unique grand introduction, Shawn & Stacie went into their first dance. Family and friends were treated to a fine meal featuring Filet with blue cheese and almond crust topped with Barolo wine sauce and served with seasonal Mushroom risotto cake and grilled vegetable, or Seabass with Miso glaze and Blood orange reduction. Basil mashed potatoes and grilled vegetable medley. The wine for the meal was a gift from Shawn parents winery Woodside Vineyards. Then everyone enjoyed dancing while DJ Alan really got the family and friends singing and having so much fun with their props and photo booth, the night was magical, eclectic, very chic, the beautiful couple became one and the celebration was exactly what they wished for the perfect soiree wedding.
Here from the bride and groom is their special story on how this beautiful wedding became:
Shawn and I met when we were both athletes in college at Miami University. Shawn played baseball and I swam. Athletes tend to gravitate toward one another with similar schedules and run-ins on campus events. Shawn and I hit it off right away and never looked back! We began dating in 2012 and since have both graduated, moved to different cities, bought a dog together and both ended up in Sarasota Florida. Which ended up being the spot that he proposed to me on December 30th, 2015.
While Sarasota is certainly a beautiful place, we wanted something with a little more charm and family history when picking a wedding venue. I knew right away I wanted to get married on Hilton Head Island. My parents have vacationed there for nearly 40 years and I for almost my whole life! (26 years). It’s such a special place to us as we have the best family memories there and have added many friends to the mix over the years! Everyone who knows me and my family, knows we LOVE HHI. When we started looking for wedding venues, the Sonesta was simply the easiest choice one could make. It had everything I wanted and dreamed of! From it being situated right on the water, to the covered pavilion, it was perfect.
