What a way to start a new 2014 celebration year of weddings. I cannot even begin to say thank you to Ryanne & Tyler, and their parents, for allowing me to capture their wedding in Charleston, SC. The whole wedding was about great family emotion. The bride wore her mother’s dress, a witch had an amazing train, the bridesmaid wore dresses in midnight blue, and the groom and groomsmen wore black tails with white gloves. The ceremony was at the Citadel Summerall Chapel & the reception that followed at Hibernian hall. The entire day and evening were a celebration of family and friends and love.
Ryanne & Tyler you have been a delight, thank you for making me a historian on your biggest day.
Here from the groom is how this day became so magical.
Ryanne and I met at her Uncle’s annual birthday party on Johns Island. It is a huge party and I have been going there for a few years with my roommate at the time, and his girlfriend, but I definitely didn’t plan on meeting my future wife there. My roommate’s girlfriend introduced us to each other, and after just a brief time talking with her, I knew there was something different about her so I asked her over to a party the very next day. Next thing you know we are dating and I have never had so much fun in a relationship in my life. Wherever I went, I wanted her to be there with me. Over the next year and a half, I became very close with her and her family. We have parties and have our families over, or we go over to their houses for parties. Ryanne is an extremely hard person to shop for because she says that she doesn’t want anything because she has everything she wants with her family, dogs, and me. This is extremely rare in a girl from what I have seen.
Birthdays and Christmas are difficult in trying to figure out what she wants, but her birthday in 2012 was different. I invited her family and mine, and also a few friends over for her birthday party. Halfway through the night she started opening gifts and I gave her a piece of jewelry and as I was helping her put it on, I said “Ryanne is an extremely hard person to shop for, but the only thing she has ever told me was that if she ever got engaged she would want her family to be there, and well……here we are.” You could have heard a pin drop in that room. I looked around and everyone looked shocked as I got down on a knee and pulled a ring out of my pocket and asked her to marry me. Everyone was excited and emotional and the rest of the party was a blast. A year and a half after that, we are married and couldn’t be happier. We decided to have the wedding ceremony at The Citadel Summerall Chapel because it is a very beautiful chapel, and Ryanne is a recent graduate of their Master’s program. The Hibernian Society Hall was chosen because we consider it to be one of the most beautiful and historic places in Charleston. It is also a very meaningful location as Ryanne’s parents held their wedding reception there as well. We could not have asked for the perfect wedding thanks to our wonderful friends and families, and also our incredible vendors. We had Hanby’s Catering, Permanent Vacation Band, Frederick’s Florist, and Michel Berda as our photographer. From the rehearsal dinner to the ceremony and reception, we truly could not be happier.
